Marin County: a road trip from Pt. Reyes to Bolinas, Stinson Beach to Mill Valley and back

December 6, 2009 by admin

The days here in Marin County have been absolutely fantastic. Perfect weather for taking a leisurely road trip while checking out various neighborhood. Our goal was to get lost, find an adventure and make our way to the beach for picnic.

We weren’t disappointed. Marin is filled with red, yellow and orange trees as fall swoops in to change color. We go past old barns, fields of cows, goat, sheep and horses. We make our way to Pt. Reyes and hike down a nature/bird viewing trail. Its lush and green and pretty steep.

Next on the list is stopping in a corner store to get sandwiches and drinks. We fly right past the Bolinas turn off sign (rumor has it that the folks that live in Bolinas keep tearing down the directional sign as soon as it goes up…the less of a tourist attraction the better!) We flip a quick u-turn and end up at the beach barefoot and looking out at the surf boards in the water. Bolinas, CA is beautiful, laid back and the smallest out of the way place that I’ve been to. There’s a strip of shop, a few restaurants, artist studios, a coffee house and the beach.

We spend most of the day eating lunch, watching the surfers and happy dogs running loose on the beach tongues out and tails wagging

We leave the beach dirty and full of sand and make our South to Stinson Beach where we stop at the infamous Flying Pig Ranch for ice cream. With cones in hand we walked down the sea shell ridden strip of beach. The sand is soft and silkey on toes. Its a lazy day and I can’t help but roll through my thoughts of gratitude. I give up the phone, calendar, client files and simply enjoy the day traveling from town to town with my son.

Back across the winding Panoramic Highway we make our way back to Mill Valley. We saw Marin County at its finest today. The beauty of living in Marin, CA is that its an outdoors way of living. In Marin people bike and hike and have the luxury of focusing in on the beauty and nature and the gloriousness of where they live.

Going into the New Year I want to approach my business differently. I choose to see the glass as half full rather than half empty. I want to focus in on the positive aspects of my business and the people I chose to work and interact with. Good solid buyers and sellers that I thoughroughly enjoy working with. Within all the chaos that this past year holds I chose to live the life with a Marin lifestyle and call beauty, joy and happiness into my life.

I chose to take the road from Pt. Reyes to Bolinas and Stinson Beach to Mill Valley. Life like business is all about choices. Next trip will be on a bike as I explore Tennessee Valley Trail. Stopping at the road side fruit stand as I make my way to Tennessee beach.

Stay tuned!
