Yellow brick road…

October 15, 2008 by admin

“Follow the yellow brick road, follow the yellow brick road, follow, follow, follow follow, follow the yellow brick road”….that’s the song that is played on rewind in my mind. I feel like the emerald palace is just up around the bend, Oz a curves distance away, but instead I’m trapped by the wicked witch of the West.

Last I wrote I think I mentioned that an offer was finally accepted by the lender. Yeah! The buyer decided to drop out. Oh. So I scrambled to get Buyer #2 into place. The wicked witch of the West (aka Jack, Jack Ass, negotiator) just informed us that she can’t find Buyer #2’s offer or the estimated HUD. Under normal circumstances I would have pulled out my fucking hair and let out a shrill scream. But no, not today. Today I’m singing “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” over and over and over again. I sing it like a mantra, so much so that it makes me feel like I’m one of the mentaly disturbed in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest…remember in one scene there was a group of guys walking in a circle around a pole and Jack Nicolson ended up going against the circle’s revolution? That’s how it is with short sales, they are tortuous and you end up feeling like a crazy person half way through it (if you make it that far…most people just give up)

Short sales are NOT for the meek hearted and require the patience of a mule (this goes for Buyers and Agents).  You ride this vicious roller coaster of doubt and uncertainty and just when you think things are going to be okay there’s another monster hurdle you have to jump over. It’s a waiting game really, hurry up and wait is more like it, and if you aren’t prepared to follow-up diligently and badger, and whine, and cry and nag your way to an answer your file will drop to the bottom of the pile and you’ll find yourself in foreclosure.

This week overall was a 5 on a scale of 10. Outside of my own escrow to deal with I am gently managing 2 other escrows. One involves a bankruptcy and the other is also a short sale that is painstakingly taking FOREVER and sucking the life blood out of me and my clients.

Positives this week? Spinning class. Working out things with my S.O. (significant other). letting go and letting in. A fantastic interview with Tara-Nicholle Nelson and how she is fixing and flipping her way to wealth (I learned so much from this interview). And, my oh so undertanding clients and for being able to see the glass as half full rather than half emtpy.
