On the road to Nacasio…

I haven’t written in a long time. One day passes, a week folds into another and before you know it months have gone by. No apologies. I’m busy and life is full. I was on the road to Nicasio the other day checking out a new project by Richard Margaulis on Los Robles Rd when I saw the truck in front of me and decided to take the pic. Read more

I’ve been wanting new music for quite a while now. As much time as I spend in the car the 6 CDs that are in place have got to go. I love Annie Lennox so I thought I’d share her with you. If you click on the image you can go to Amazon and get a copy.
Graffiti and filth and warfare oh my…
Some of the homes that I’ve previewed today are simply disgusting and a damn shame. I walked into a house on 64th in Oakland and it was terrible. Graffiti on all the walls, windows broken into, drug paraphernalia thrown around, the smell of piss eminating from every corner…it’s these kinds of houses that I see in Oakland that have opportunity written all over them. We have a complex situation. We need to talk to you to get your take on a situation. Our realtor agrees because he says he has never had this scenario.
Briefly, the tenants at our rental have produced 2 lease agreements: one says the lease expires June 30, 2009 and the other says the lease expires July 31, 2009. I have the lease agreement that says June 30. The tenants are choosing the July 31 date because that better suits their schedule. Read more
I see white people…diversity in “good” communities

Remember the movie The Sixth Sense with Bruce Willis and the kid in the movie says “I see dead people” well in my quest to find a new place to call home with no crime rate, a lovely environment, great public schools, clean and green community immediately brings to mind that movie only with the saying, “I see white people.”
If I want all of the characteristics and qualities of the list above that means, I’m afraid to say, that I’m going to be giving up diversity.

I’ve been working hard after my stint at Sitting Shiva. WBWTR’s 70 page digital book about women building wealth was completed for the Greatest Real Estate Giveaway, I was fotunate enough to interview Michelle Lenahan and Lynnette Khalfani and I have Bernice Ross up for interview #2 as well as Barbara Stanny who has agreed to be in the hot seat next week.
The full update should be in place next week. Make sure to check back soon!

So I finished my week of Sitting Shiva.
I reflected upon this last year and tried to find the lessons I was to learn. This cleansing of my soul, centering and starting of the new was supposed to be a smooth and easy process. It wasn’t to be so.
Instead the past year was like a colonic given by a first year med student. It was painful and there wasn’t a lot to smile about but the Shiva was a good thing for me. Read more

Yesterday was a hard day. It rained big time and on top of all the other shit I’ve had to handle my windshield was still leaking, the carpet smelled like mold and I feel worn down and beat up.
For the past 7 years I’ve worked hard to stay focused and build my “wealth”. Although its been 10 months it seems as if in a blink of an eye I find myself at the bottom having to claw my way up again. So I decided to sit Shivah…for my life.
I’m giving myself 7 days and then burying my past. In these 7 days I’ve set about to work on cleaning my soul Read more

I’ve been through the month from hell. Everything that could go wrong went wrong. Every direction turned was the wrong direction and every task has turned into a nightmare.
So you know about the Sticky Bandits well it turns out that some of them or a group similar to the ones that hit my home were caught. The SF Chron reported it. Now I am in the middle of the insurance mess. Thank god that my neighbor took pics. We burned them to Cd and I gave a copy to the claims adjuster along with the OPD police report now its a matter of itemizing everything and trying to find all the receipts. Read more

So my house was burglarized the other day. I dropped my kid off at school at 9AM, picked up my mom, made a pit stop and came home around 10:15AM. The front door was wide open and I’m thinking to myself “WTF? I know I locked the front door.” We get out of the car. I entered first and all I saw was my shit all over the floor and graffiti on the walls. I cried. Read more

I don’t live under a rock and I’m no dummy either. I’ve got my ear to the ground and just like you I am tripping about the state of the economy…our economic crisis. It’s everywhere. You can’t get away from it. If your next door cube buddy isn’t talking about the economy its blaring on the TV at your gym. It’s time to tune out an tune off!
Last night I woke up in a sweat at 2AM no less. Worried. Worried about money. Worried about business. Worried about paying the bills. Worried about keeping a roof over our own heads. Read more
